A dahlia tuber is similar to a tulip bulb. It is where all the energy and genetics are stored to produce the plant.

Each named tuber has been registered with the American Dahlia Society based on its own individual characteristics. This allows you to know exactly what cultivar you are getting.

Dahlia tubers produce the exact same plant as the original tuber clump it was was taken from. to put it simply, a clone.

Dahlia seeds will each be unique and genetically different than the mother plant they were collected from. Seeds can have similar traits as their parents, but much like humans they are not direct replicas.
